Student Organization, CISSRS

CISSRS President (2005 – 2007), Carol Reiley, volunteers at a middle school outreach event designed for girls interested in science and engineering.

CISSRS was founded in March 1998 in response to a growing need for educational support and student involvement in computer integrated surgery. This student run society was created to provide a bridge between professionals and students, and to realize the interests of students.

The Computer-Integrated Surgery Student Research Society is open to all undergraduate, graduate, and medical students who are interested in engineering, medicine, or both. For those who are simply interested in CIS, we will have guest lecturers composed of surgeons, faculty, students, and engineers.

CISSRS is also an important facet to the Center because it coordinates pre-college outreach, which provides direct mentoring to future engineers in the community surrounding JHU.
