Laboratoire de Robotique de Paris

Two PostDoctoral position available
in the field of
Medical Robotics

Duration: 12 months, possibly 24 months.

Starting: winter 2006.

Monthly income: typically 2100 euros (with health insurance paid)

Topics of research: Our team has been developing researches in the field of Medical Robotics for years. Recent projects led to the development of robotic systems organized around sensor based control of robot manipulators. Different sensors, including force/torques sensors, and several real-time imaging devices such as endoscopes and ultrasound probes are considered for the control of the robot, in the aim of helping the surgeon through semi- automatic guidance.

We recently got grants, from both the ANR (National Agency of Research) and EU (Streps) for continuing this research towards two directions:

  • Physiological motion compensation with the help of sensor feedback control, with a particular focus on force feedback control.
  • Cobotics. Here, the objective is to study the possibility of sharing the control of an instrument held by both a surgeon and a robot, while external sensors are simultaneously used in the robot control loop in order to help the surgeon gesture.

Applicant Profile: Control Engineer and/or Mechanical Engineer, preferably experienced in the fields of Robotics and Medical Robotics, good experimental skills, preferably (but not necessarily) a past practical experience in the field of numerical image processing.
