Description

Medical Grade Adhesives:


Master Bond Medical Adhesives: EP42HT-2MED:

  • 2 part epoxy 1:1 mixing by volume.
  • 50-150 steam autoclave cycles (mode of failure, fracture/peeling)
  • Very rigid when cured.
  • Initial viscosity � little more than water but less then honey. Can be applied when it thickens a little bit.
  • 6 month uncured shelf life (would lest much longer but not certified )
  • Setup time 45 minutes.
  • Cure at room temperature overnight and then cure with heat.
  • To ensure proper mixing heat left over mixture for a few hours at 200 F until solidifies; if it is still tacky then mixing was incorrect.
  • Mix slowly, bubbles are bad.
  • Humidity is bad.
  • Bonds to glass and stainless steel

(60 grit paper to the surface, clean with isopropyl alcohol) Use acetone (or alternative) to clean uncured epoxy.

Epoxy Technology, Inc: EPO-TEK 353ND:

  • Adv: Can be purchased in small packets(4grams) from Thorlabs.com ( ~$50/10 packs)
  • Inexpensive
  • Requires an oven (Dr. Kang's lab has one) or a hair drier
  • The epoxy will thicken in 4 hours but as soon as it is heat cured it will run thin. Experiment first.
  • If thicker consistency is required leave the mixed epoxy in its bag overnight and then use the heat gun

to soften it so it flows. It will harden with a bit more heat.
