Administrative Issues
- Lab Meetings
- There will be no speakers for this summer.
- Instead, lab meetings will be devoted to updates on the new building
- We also have to start scheduling and make plans for our transfer to the new building
- Logistics for move
- We have to move out of NEB B26 by early-mid August
- The Lab area in the new building will be ready by then
- The student space and the mock OR, however, might not be available in August
- NEB16 will be safe until the mock OR is available
- We can therefore store large equipments in B16 during our move
- Planning
- We need to start thinking about how to move
- We plan to purchase standard plastic boxes/trays for storing small miscellaneous items (e.g. tuberware, rubbermaid)
- We need to compose a list of issues that need to be resolved before we move into the new building
- (for example, we need to figure out how to move the optical table to the new building)
- A page has been set up on wiki for that purpose. <Issues to be resolved>
- Please feel free to edit the page, or email carmen_kut@hotmail.com if you want to contribute to the page.
- New Buildling Updates
- There will be a lot of common areas in the new building
- There will also be shelves for storing journals etc
- However, we need to find out whether there will be shelve spaces for students in the lab area
- Bloodborne Pathogens Training
- The training is now available online.
- The online course fulfills the annual training requirements mandated by OSHA and Johns Hopkins, for those who could be exposed to human tissues and/or bodily fluids, including those who package or handle human-derived samples for shipping
- All Hospital and School of Medicine employees with an active JHED ID can take the course by logging in with their JHED ID at this link: this link: https://portal.johnshopkins.edu/cgi-bin/webct/libwww-autoreg.cgi?COURSEID=hse_bloodborne_01_ongoing.
