Abstract

Statistical anatomical models are an emerging computerized tool that helps, among other uses, to augment and extend the capabilities of conventional medical imaging devices, by injecting prior knowledge of the anatomy into the imaging, or the image visualization process. In this talk, I will present a research by myself and collaborating students, regarding the creation, analysis, and applications of statistical atlases of bone anatomy. One long term goal of this work, nicknamed "hybrid reconstruction," is the compensation for missing imaging data in a tomographic reconstruction process, by replacing the missing data with approximations derived from the statistical database.
