At Johns Hopkins University, a Graduate Board Oral exam is an important step toward a Ph. D degree. It is the step after the two Qua/lify Projects (Quals) and the step before the dissertation.

I am preparing for the computer science department GBO. And because of my research interests, the emphasis is on computer integrated medicine and robotic intervention as related to computer science, and less directly, mechanical, electrical and biomedical engineering.
