Digitizing Omni Phantom

Description

Here is a small digitizing application using the phantom omni. I am not sure how accurate it is but for a rough model the surely it can be used to digitize a physical surface into a point cloud ascii file. This point cloud can then be imported into a cad package (ie ProE . rename file .pts) to generate a CAD surface model.

Make sure you setup the correct paths for HL HD libraries and include directories in the project settings dialog. It requires the OpenHaptics library.

Usage

  • Button 1 is the one closer to the last joint of the omni
  • Button 2 is used to collect points in XYZ space in mm
  • Button 1 is used to remove the last taken point from the list
  • Touch the sphere and click button 1 to save to digitized points to file
  • Mouse right click shows menu, quit and reset points are the only two options
