Additional Guidelines and Recommendations
-
Check the kickoff slides and course homepage for the complete set of requirements.
-
Be thorough with logistical info, such as timelines, schedules, milestones, management plan, dependencies, and costs.
The larger your team, the more important these issues are.
- Hand-ins, assignments, course materials, etc.
-
Please have presentations and associated write-ups (for proposals and paper reviews) ready by the due date.
-
On your presentation day, please bring hard copies of your presenation slides, write-up, and the paper itself (for paper reviews).
-
Examples of past course hand-ins can be found in the notebooks in Dr. Taylor's office, or here (requires WebCT login):
http://webct.jhu.edu/en600446_01_sp09/student_pres/Example%20Group/
-
Please try to make all hand-ins available as early as possible by uploading them to your project page.
-
Each team must keep an organized notebook containing copies of ALL project materials.
This year we are maintaining notebooks online using WebCT.
- Presentation slides
-
Use plain white backgrounds. Avoid using the Microsoft templates and the like, as the designs are irrelevant to the material being presented.
-
At least on the title slide, include names and/or logos of related entities (e.g. CISST ERC, whose logos be found on the sample posters, among other places).
Optionally, you may include smaller logos on the slide master.
-
Be as clear as possible; use Gantt charts or similar aids for timelines. In general, be meticulous about visual aids.
-
Credit borrowed information on a per-slide basis, in case slides get taken out of context in the future.
